The Bozeman Recreation Department will offer a new class series this spring devoted to birds and bird watching around the Gallatin Valley. The class aims to educate birders with an in-depth study of all the birds that inhabit the valley during the summertime. Class participants will learn to identify birds by sight, sound, habitat and behavior.

The classes, which will include field work outings, are to be taught by experienced bird specialists.

The first session will be offered on April 14 and April 21 from 6-8 p.m. with a field trip on April 18 from 8-11 a.m. The second session meets April 28 and May 5 from 6-8 p.m. with a field trip on May 9 from 8-11 a.m. The third session will meet May 12 and May 19 from 6-8 p.m. with a field trip on May 23 from 8-11 a.m.

The classes are open to student age 16 and up. The fee per session is $40 for City of Bozeman residents and $56 for non-residents.

Sign-up for any of the three sessions can be completed at the Beall Recreation Center at 415 N. Bozeman or with a Visa or Master Card by calling 582-2290.
