Montana Outdoor Science School, USFWS to host annual Watershed Festival on May 15
The 12th Annual Watershed Festival is expected to draw hundreds of attendants to the Bozeman Fish Technology Center on May 15. Hosted by Montana Outdoor Science School (MOSS) and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, the festival will feature events focused on the unique habitats found within the Bozeman-area watershed.
Activities at the Watershed Festival will include children’s face painting, fish printing and a farm animal exhibition. Miss Cindy from Bozeman Public Library will be present reading stories. The Bridger Canyon Volunteer Fire Department’s fire truck will be on hand, and with Smokey the Bear.
Adults can learn fly casting and fly tying from area pros, pick up local gardening tips from Zone 4 Magazine experts and visit more than 20 informational booths. Thermal Grass will provide musical entertainment.
Two films will be screened in the Piper Building at the Fish Technology Center during the festival. The first will discuss our drinking water, and the second will focus on the plight of the disappearing honey bee.
Food will be available from the Bountiful Table and ice cream from the Frozone truck.
“Last year, the Festival had over 1,400 attendees,” said MOSS executive director Liz Harrison. “This event has become a favorite springtime event for families, with lots to learn and lots to do. The Festival helps the community gain an awareness, understanding and appreciation of the diverse natural resources found within our watershed.”
Festival booth exhibitors include: ArtSplot, Assoc. of Gallatin AG Irrigators, Bozeman Rec Center, BYI’s Bozone Ozone Bus, City of Bozeman Water Department, Defenders of Wildlife, Dirt-Y Girls, Greater Gallatin Watershed Council, Keystone Conservation, MSU Big Sky Institute, Moonlight Basin, Montana Raptor Conservation Center, Museum of the Rockies, Natural Resources Defense Council, National Forest Service, Sierra Club, Trout Unlimited, Wild Things Unlimited, U.S. Forest Service, Wildlife Conservation Society, Yellowstone National Park and Zone 4 Magazine.
